Glass Half Full

So we have a new kitten.  Yes, that means Brian and I have THREE cats now.  I’ll introduce you to Olive in a separate post.    But first I wanted to post this snippet of conversation we had this AM.

[We had kept Olive in the front foyer with her own litterbox and sleeping area until she got used to us, the house and Kiwi & Mango.  Yesterday Brian decided to take down the cardboard fence and litterbox because she seemed to be used to the other cats and the rest of the house.]

This morning we woke up to find out that Olive had peed and pooped on the floor right where her old litterbox was.

Erin: [laughing]
Brian: You’re being the good cop again!
Erin: She’s 6 weeks old and has only lived here for a week!  Plus look at her!  How can you be mad at that adorable little face??  Besides, it could have been worse.  She could have peed in the plant like Kiwi.
Brian: Good point.  All the plants are alive and the floor’s not damaged.
Erin: See!  Now your glass is half full!
Brian: Yeah, of cat pee.

Wedding Photos

WOW! Been a loooong time since we’ve posted. I’m sorry about that! Life has been crraaaazzzyyy for us (both good & bad) since we’ve gotten married. I’ll do another update post just so everyone knows what’s been happening over at Maison du Drought.

For now though, I’ll just do a quick post to let everyone know that wedding photos have been posted to our gallery. There’s a couple of ways to check ‘em out. The first is to view the slideshow we put together and the second is to just check out each gallery individually. We’re also in the process of designing our photobooks! We haven’t forgotten about them or anyone we promised them to.

Well we did it! We got married on March 13, 2010 and it was without a doubt, the happiest day of our life/lives.

This Is It

Well even though neither Brian nor I have called ourselves single in quite a long time, this is our last unmarried Valentine’s Day. Next year we’ll be Mr. and Mrs. and will automatically have a date for the next 120 years.

How are we celebrating our last unmarried Valentine’s Day?

Well this morning Brian made pancakes (yum!) and then we ran some errands. As I write this, Brian is watching the Sens/Islanders game (we are an Ottawa household all the way). After a delicious dinner of steaks, roasted baby potatoes and sauteed green beans, we will settle in for a night of playing LEGO Batman.

Not romantic in the traditional sense, but we’re together eating good food and having fun. And that’s what we’re all about!

Besides, he did buy me flowers while we were out running errands.

T-Minus 30 Days

Well so much for THAT New Years Resolution. You know, I’ve never been very good at keeping those…you’d think I would have learned not make them.

Anyway, since we are 30 days from The Big Day, I figured I should probably do a post to at least update everyone on what’s been going on!

As many of you know, the invites went out about a month ago. Weren’t they lovely? That flower was hand-drawn by my MOH, Erika. Talented woman, hey?

We’ve also finalized the menu for the dinner, which I will be posting shortly. If you have any food allergies, please let us know via the contact form so we can adjust accordingly!

In non-wedding news: Brian is no longer working evenings! Yay! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have him home in the evenings again. Him working 2-10:30 and me working 9-5:30 was totally screwing with our schedules. Now he’ll be working 7-5 Mon-Thurs and he’ll be back as an electrician, which makes life just that much sweeter.

So I apologize if we’ve been non-respondent in the last few months. Between unpacking (did I mention we’re STILL not unpacked?) and working weird schedules, it’s been a madhouse here at the Drought household. Fear not family & friends! We will be joining the land of the living soon enough.
