Did Erin change her name?
Yes. She’s never felt strong ties to her last name and she loves having the same last name as Brian and his dad.
Who took the photos on your site?
All of the photos were taken by Erik Hornung, with the exception of the one on the About page. Brian took that one with his gangly arm.
You guys live in Edmonton??! WHY?
While we would love to live somewhere else, Edmonton is our home for now. Eventually we would like to move to a different city. After all, you can’t have a vineyard in Edmonton!
Why did you guys buy a condo? Why not a house?
The biggest reasons were cost (we could get more condo for the same amount of money) and location. Our condo is in a concrete building right on the LRT line. We have one main vehicle (Betsy, a 2002 Ford Focus) which Brian uses for work while Erin takes the train. By having a ton of amenities within walking distance (Superstore, Dollarama and Bulk Barn for instance), one of us isn’t stranded for anything should the other have the car. When we’re both home, most of the time we leave the car at home and just walk to wherever we need to go.
While the condo is a little short on space for us, the location makes it worth it hands down. In a few years when Brian has completed his apprenticeship, we’ll look at purchasing (and renovating!) a house. For now, our condo is awesome and suits our lifestyle perfectly!
How long have you two crazy kids been together?
What? You didn’t read the story?! Appalling! Okay for all you short-cutters: we’ve been together since December 1, 2006. You can do the math.
How old are your cats?
That’s up for debate. Kiwi was born sometime between 1995 and 1993. Mango was born April 1, 2008.
How do you guys tell your cats apart? I’m pretty sure you’re lying and only have 1 cat.
The differences are subtle but they are there. Mango has MUCH bigger ears than Kiwi. (All the better to hear the treat bag opening with…) Kiwi has a smaller head. Mango has white on his right cheek and black underneath his chinny chin chin. Kiwi’s blaze is solid white. Mango’s eyes are mostly green. Mango usually has a dumb look on his face while Kiwi has one of contempt. Can you tell that Erin is obsessed with the cats?
Who are the family members without titles in your wedding photos?

Tom: Deb’s BFF (Erin calls him her “step-papa” as an inside joke)
